Behind the Logo

I posted this long ago on my old blog, but lately I’ve had several people ask about my logo so here’s the story behind the For the Love of Creating Logo…

“I call them concepts for a reason. There is meaning behind any design - some have more meaning than others. It was incredibly important that my own logo be very conceptual (this is the fru-fru word that they throw around in design school - tehe). I don’t know why, but that always tickled me. As if a logo goes through the same stages as human conception and birth, but it kinda does actually. So… I should try to explain the meaning behind the name, eh?

For the Love of Creating came about because I was beginning to wonder why I take my work so seriously… it’s because I am creating something that I love. I just cannot stand to let a logo or a portrait go to a client that is sub-par.

I’ll let this silly little diagram below explain…”

Blouin Art: Branded

It’s not often that a client gives me nearly complete control over their new brand, but that’s exactly what Trista Blouin with Blouin Art did! She gave me more of a feeling she wanted portrayed and then she said “go with it”! And that’s exactly what I did. Trista had complete trust in me as a trained professional throughout the entire process. She asked for my opinions and took everything I had to say about her brand into consideration. We worked together to achieve something great for her new high-end portrait experience. Talk about a dream client! Check out the first few projects completed (logo, splash page and blog) with more to come.

In the Jungle

I am sure my clients are tired of seeing his sweet face, but my family has been anxiously awaiting new images of little man Opie. So here’s a little Opie update… He’s ahead of schedule according to the doc… holding his head up perfectly, pushing up off his tummy, and drooling. And he still has more expressions than any baby I’ve ever seen - scroll down - you’ll see. He just got this new little Rainforest Jumperoo (Thank You Jodi and Heather!!) and it’s his new favorite thing and my new favorite thing ’cause it means he’s nearly over Holdme Syndrome.

Wordy Wordle!

From the belly of the beast (aka this blog) comes a wordle work of art - try saying that 5x fast! This blog sure has a lot to say, huh? What does your blog have to say? Check out Wordle to find out!

50 Years Later…

50 years, 5 children, 11 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren later this couple is still going strong. How cool is that?? All you need is LOVE!!! If you can believe it, these beautiful people are my Grandparents. They’ll be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this September.

And this is Big Red… my Grandfather’s pride and joy… a 1957 Ford Pickup.

Let’s BoogieO!

The Design Process

As cliche as this sounds… my process helps me help you. I have aligned my processes, prices and policies in such a way that my design skills are affordable to small businesses. So I feel the need to review how my design process works..

  • First you’ll need to check out my work here to make sure that our styles match. I think I have a pretty broad range of styles, but check out my portfolio anyway.
  • Please email or call me before you purchase your package so we can make sure that our timelines mesh as sometimes I have a lengthy waiting list.
  • Next, purchase your package via my shopping cart here. Payment is due before any work will begin.
  • After that, you’ll need to fill out my design questionnaire here. This is a mandatory step. If you have paid and have not filled this out - I cannot begin designing.
  • Once you’ve filled out your questionnaire, we’ll schedule a phone consultation.  This is also mandatory but will not be firmly scheduled until the questionnaire is completed. The purpose of the phone consultation is to review your design requests and make sure we are both on the same page.
  • Then the designing begins. This can take anywhere from 4 days to 4 weeks. I pride myself in creating truly good design for every client so please understand the creative process can take time.
  • You are then presented with 3 concepts. You’ll either accept one of them as-is or we’ll revise one of them. You are allotted 3 revisions. A revision is any change of color, font or layout. A revision is not a whole new concept. Additional concepts may be purchased for $85 each. Be sure to read all terms and policies here.
  • Lastly, please respect my knowledge, my work and my business policies as a trained design professional. My job is not an easy one - it requires a lot of skill, talent, time and dedication. I don’t like being disrespected or taken advantage of and I am sure neither do you. I am a person just like you so please be nice.

A Working Mom

I’ve resorted to this… carrying around a sleeping baby in this interesting sling-wrap-shirt-thingy (the Snugglewrap) because Opie has developed Holdme Syndrome in the recent weeks. He’s even getting a little fresh with me. This is what I have to put up with at work! Who’s in charge?!

A Fresh Coat of Paint

Leave it to me to get a little bored with my brand!? So I gave my brand a fresh coat of paint… something a little fresh and minty… Yum! Whatcha think? Same minty changes coming soon to all my sites… of course I’ve just been SO swamped with all kinds of great new projects, so the painting might take a little while.
