  • For the Love of Blogging began many years ago as the space for a young (and slightly naive) design school graduate. Since that time, I've grown a bit wiser and (hopefully) matured in my design perspective. So, my goals for this blog have evolved, and now I look forward to using this space as a way of sharing my experiences with Braizen, motherhood, and as a Jedi Master of design.

  • That's me: mom, greatest wife ever, designer, business owner, and the single largest contributer to Diet Mountain Dew's vast soda fortune. It's hard to believe that my journey into design and branding began nearly a decade ago with this blog and a drive to create dynamic brands for boutique photographers in the Atlanta area. Today, I'm the founder of Braizen, a small business branding design firm, and I dabble in a handful of other design-centered projects. This is my life, thanks for reading. Look for me on DribbbleFacebook, Twitter, Pinterest & Instagram or head over to Opieh Studios to see all works in progress.

  • You read right – our's son's name is Opie. Well, his really name is Oliver Paul, but everyone calls him Opie. He's a real cool kid who loves to draw, makes messes, get dirty and work on cars with his Dad. He knows no strangers even at 4 years old and we expect he'll never be the shy kid in class. He is known for his many expressions and the conversations he spurs are off-the-wall-hilarious. He has an imaginary friend from California named Jack who is six and can drive. He's not really into social networking yet, but stay tuned. I am sure he'll add a twitter app to his iPad shortly.

  • Aside from being incredibly handsome, my husband Paul is one of the most intelligent people I have ever known. I love him for his nerdiness, mostly because it means he can fix just about anything that goes wrong on the homefront. He's a brilliant engineer, loving father, and always manages to keep me interested, no matter the subject. For all of his awesomeness, I let him maintain a significant workshop in the garage, where he tinkers on his cars, motorcycles, and top secret projects with which I'm certain he will one day rule the world.

HaHa – Gotcha! It’s just an Opie update. Opie is growing like a weed (+2lb +2in ). He’s active, healthy and has one helluva pair of lungs. He’s keeping us very busy especially now that I’m back to work. I’m quickly getting the hang of “Mommy-Tasking” as one of my recent clients called it.

These are those lungs I was talkin’ about.

“Can you see me now?” These are the best swaddle blankets in the world! Check out these Miracle Blankets. Hmmm… they could use a prettier website, no?

Smiling at Aunt Alice…

P.S. I seem to be getting better at taking snapshots, huh?

Jodi - Oh heavens!!! I want to kiss on his little cleft chin! :o) And loving the snaps – phone on its side, boppy on the floor – ahhh, life as a mom. Hee. Love him.

Pete Hoffmann - I’m glad that Rollie and Merlyn just look like older kids than they were last time I saw them.

I think Opie is going to give Jim Carrey something to worry about career wise.

I am unable to respond to emails until I get back to Florida the end of the week.

Back in Business

Baby Opie and I have adjusted nicely to our routine and the time has come to unleash my creativity once again. I am officially back from maternity leave and taking on new projects. If you are currently on my waiting list please go ahead and do a little shopping and select your custom design package via the boutique. You will not be added to my official working list until you’ve made your purchase. Projects will begin in the order in which payments are received. Can’t wait to get started on all these great new projects!

katie - pictures are so cute ! Glad to hear of mommy-tasking. It’s only fair that you should have to join the ranks of us :) I am still trying to come up with a business so you can design my logo. Also, racking my brain for Christmas card inspiration…

The Birth Story

My husband was the official photographer at Opie’s birth. Yes – Professional Engineer turned Professional Photographer. I’ve just been able to go through the images from the hospital and I have to say – He did a fantastic job capturing the right moments! He documented everything and I mean EVERYTHING – From the Epidural to the Circumcision.

At the hospital and all hooked up.

Big needle…

Thank you Epidural man!!!

The in between waiting part pretty much consisted of interrupted sleep – boring stuff. Until this…

Cleaning up…

Weighing in…

Checking stuff…

Off to Mommy…

Chilling a little later…

Oh no! Off to be circumcised…

Holy Crap!

Home at last – sleeping soundly with Daddy… The End

Design Updates

I’ve been neglecting showing some recent design work on the blog. I need to seriously update my portfolio on the web too. I have done so many logos this year already – it’s insane. And the waiting list that I will be starting in a couple of weeks is daunting – whew! Thank goodness we’ve started to fall into a routine with Baby Opie! So… I will be starting work back on June 16th. I already have a significant waiting list… logos, collateral, websites, blog customizations… you name it… it’s probably on my list!

June 3, 2008 - 3:59 am

sarah goodman - Oh my goodness! You are SO TALENTED! I am blown away with all of these…they are so BEAUTIFUL! And motherhood gets easier….I swear!

June 12, 2008 - 1:29 pm
