For the Love of Blogging » The Jankowski Family Blog

  • For the Love of Blogging began many years ago as the space for a young (and slightly naive) design school graduate. Since that time, I've grown a bit wiser and (hopefully) matured in my design perspective. So, my goals for this blog have evolved, and now I look forward to using this space as a way of sharing my experiences with Braizen, motherhood, and as a Jedi Master of design.

  • That's me: mom, greatest wife ever, designer, business owner, and the single largest contributer to Diet Mountain Dew's vast soda fortune. It's hard to believe that my journey into design and branding began nearly a decade ago with this blog and a drive to create dynamic brands for boutique photographers in the Atlanta area. Today, I'm the founder of Braizen, a small business branding design firm, and I dabble in a handful of other design-centered projects. This is my life, thanks for reading. Look for me on DribbbleFacebook, Twitter, Pinterest & Instagram or head over to Opieh Studios to see all works in progress.

  • You read right – our's son's name is Opie. Well, his really name is Oliver Paul, but everyone calls him Opie. He's a real cool kid who loves to draw, makes messes, get dirty and work on cars with his Dad. He knows no strangers even at 4 years old and we expect he'll never be the shy kid in class. He is known for his many expressions and the conversations he spurs are off-the-wall-hilarious. He has an imaginary friend from California named Jack who is six and can drive. He's not really into social networking yet, but stay tuned. I am sure he'll add a twitter app to his iPad shortly.

  • Aside from being incredibly handsome, my husband Paul is one of the most intelligent people I have ever known. I love him for his nerdiness, mostly because it means he can fix just about anything that goes wrong on the homefront. He's a brilliant engineer, loving father, and always manages to keep me interested, no matter the subject. For all of his awesomeness, I let him maintain a significant workshop in the garage, where he tinkers on his cars, motorcycles, and top secret projects with which I'm certain he will one day rule the world.

I recently hired photographer, Rachael Boling, to capture some really fun maternity images of my husband and myself. She came all the way down from Greenville, South Carolina just for us! And we had a REALLY awesome time hanging with her for the day. I think she completely got us and was able to capture our excitement about the arrival of our first born – Opie! She is just SUPER talented! I can’t wait to have her come back and photograph our new family. Go check us out on her blog! We were hanging with the birdies in Opie’s nursery.

P.S. It’s Sunday at 3pm and Opie’s not here yet. Don’t worry – I’ll update the blog with all the goings on.

No Baby Yet…

Thanks to everyone whose been checking on me. I haven’t gone into labor yet. Although, I am so ready at this point! I’m shooting for this Saturday – now, wouldn’t that be nice – but I know that this kid has a mind of his own and will arrive on his time and not on mine.

I am wrapping client projects up this week and I am almost done! Yah! I’m working on a Friday deadline. So – 4 logo concepts left, a blog customization (yeah, I’m doing those now too) and a couple of other little web projects/revisions left. You might even see the Grand Introduction of Designer’s Diner on Friday as well! How Exciting!

<<<<< OMG! Is that thing FOR REAL?

My Other Half

I don’t think I’ve every really shared a real image of my incredible husband. He’s the smartest, funniest, most sensitive, loving man I know. But he’s really just a kid at heart. His birthday is today… he’s now as old as I am! We’re only a little more than a month apart but he likes to tease me about being the older woman – how risque! Did I mention he was funny? This is my Paul… my soulmate… my everything… and my babies daddy (hehe). Does he look ready to be a Dad in less than 3 weeks? This is just a snap shot that I took a couple of months ago… but he pretty much looks the same. And Yes… we are both four-eyed nerds and I assume our son will join in our legacy. Ha! Happy Birthday Honey!!!

Jodi - Aww. And I see no geekiness there! I think he’s adorable (but you knew that already).

Fifteen Pounds of Pure Cuteness

Or fifteen pounds of pure meanness… which ever you prefer. This one’s a real guard dog for sure… I have to apologize to the UPS man almost daily. Well, I’ve been sharing my cat so much lately that I had to show off my other fur-baby – Katie. Heaven knows neither one of them will probably won’t be photographed for quite sometime once their non-furry brother arrives. Ha!

Spell with Flickr

L O V Wooden Tag E

What a fun idea! I’ve always been obsessed with letterforms and typography so when I came across Spell with Flickr. I was in hog heaven. This might even be better than all those 3D vintage letters I’ve been collecting for my office… but probably not. Go Spell Something… and if you don’t like all the forms simply click each letter form to request a new one.
