For the Love of Blogging » The Jankowski Family Blog

  • For the Love of Blogging began many years ago as the space for a young (and slightly naive) design school graduate. Since that time, I've grown a bit wiser and (hopefully) matured in my design perspective. So, my goals for this blog have evolved, and now I look forward to using this space as a way of sharing my experiences with Braizen, motherhood, and as a Jedi Master of design.

  • That's me: mom, greatest wife ever, designer, business owner, and the single largest contributer to Diet Mountain Dew's vast soda fortune. It's hard to believe that my journey into design and branding began nearly a decade ago with this blog and a drive to create dynamic brands for boutique photographers in the Atlanta area. Today, I'm the founder of Braizen, a small business branding design firm, and I dabble in a handful of other design-centered projects. This is my life, thanks for reading. Look for me on DribbbleFacebook, Twitter, Pinterest & Instagram or head over to Opieh Studios to see all works in progress.

  • You read right – our's son's name is Opie. Well, his really name is Oliver Paul, but everyone calls him Opie. He's a real cool kid who loves to draw, makes messes, get dirty and work on cars with his Dad. He knows no strangers even at 4 years old and we expect he'll never be the shy kid in class. He is known for his many expressions and the conversations he spurs are off-the-wall-hilarious. He has an imaginary friend from California named Jack who is six and can drive. He's not really into social networking yet, but stay tuned. I am sure he'll add a twitter app to his iPad shortly.

  • Aside from being incredibly handsome, my husband Paul is one of the most intelligent people I have ever known. I love him for his nerdiness, mostly because it means he can fix just about anything that goes wrong on the homefront. He's a brilliant engineer, loving father, and always manages to keep me interested, no matter the subject. For all of his awesomeness, I let him maintain a significant workshop in the garage, where he tinkers on his cars, motorcycles, and top secret projects with which I'm certain he will one day rule the world.

Happy Birthday Opie!

I’m a little behind in posting. Opie turned one last Saturday. What a whirlwind of a year! The kid has done so many things. I am in awe. Last week he said his first word or rather words… you’ll never believe… he said “thank you”. I mean whose kid says thank you before mama? BTW – he’s said dada, but he calls everyone and everything dada. And just two days after his birthday – he took his first steps. Though he’s over that and has gone right back to crawling. Whew! Not sure I was really ready for that kind of mobility! He was pretty happy about turning one.

He wasn’t at all happy about eating cake.

Opening presents was cool – but he was really most interested in boxes, cards and bows.

Kali - Ok, Opie has got to be one of the cuttest kids I have ever seen!! His facial expressions are priceless. I’m guessing by now he is, if I’m doing my math right, about three years old? I’ll admit even the ugliest of babies are adorable but he has such a great looking personality on him. Thank you for sharing this innocent day with us!

Opie’s 1st Easter

It was a pretty uneventful Easter, though it was an utterly gorgeous day! Daddy was sick so we pretty much stayed in… but I had to get him out and at least get a few new pictures.

His faces just crack me up sometimes! I love that it looks like he’s taking a self portrait here. Really – he just wanted to put the camera in his mouth.

This is the “Puppy” face.

I puffy heart his little squinty smile!

He’s doing a few new things… pointing is one of them. He points at you… jabbers… waves… then jabbers more… as if you know exactly what he’s saying. He’s also in totally Mommy mode…. doesn’t want me to be out of sight… AT ALL. He’s not walking yet, but almost. Oh yeah – and he doesn’t particularly like having his picture made anymore. It was really tough getting these… I was very, very lucky. I cannot believe he will be a year in less than a month! OMG!

Whoa! My camera pulled double duty this weekend. I think it may need a rest.

Heather, Patrick & Basil (the squirrel)

Meet Heather and Patrick. Heather is one of my oldest friends. I’ve known her since we were 12 years old. I not even gonna do the math on that one!

This is a very interesting session for me. This was my first session that included a pet squirrel. Meet Basil.

This is the reaction I got when Basil decided to climb to the top of my head while I was shooting.

So… it seems I am involved in all that I love with this wedding. Photography AND Design. Check out a few pieces from their wedding stationery system and custom logo.

Don’t Take My Picture!!

I know I haven’t posted anything new about Opie lately… but this is why… He doesn’t seem to like me when my camera is in hand. Not a good feeling when you are a photographer. Still trying for a mini session. Maybe I’ll get something out of him the weekend. Isn’t he just Pity Full!

March 20, 2009 - 3:30 pm

Lizz Pruitt - OMG how stinkin’ cute!!! I love these. Opie sure knows how to assert himself about photos!
