  • For the Love of Blogging began many years ago as the space for a young (and slightly naive) design school graduate. Since that time, I've grown a bit wiser and (hopefully) matured in my design perspective. So, my goals for this blog have evolved, and now I look forward to using this space as a way of sharing my experiences with Braizen, motherhood, and as a Jedi Master of design.

  • That's me: mom, greatest wife ever, designer, business owner, and the single largest contributer to Diet Mountain Dew's vast soda fortune. It's hard to believe that my journey into design and branding began nearly a decade ago with this blog and a drive to create dynamic brands for boutique photographers in the Atlanta area. Today, I'm the founder of Braizen, a small business branding design firm, and I dabble in a handful of other design-centered projects. This is my life, thanks for reading. Look for me on DribbbleFacebook, Twitter, Pinterest & Instagram or head over to Opieh Studios to see all works in progress.

  • You read right – our's son's name is Opie. Well, his really name is Oliver Paul, but everyone calls him Opie. He's a real cool kid who loves to draw, makes messes, get dirty and work on cars with his Dad. He knows no strangers even at 4 years old and we expect he'll never be the shy kid in class. He is known for his many expressions and the conversations he spurs are off-the-wall-hilarious. He has an imaginary friend from California named Jack who is six and can drive. He's not really into social networking yet, but stay tuned. I am sure he'll add a twitter app to his iPad shortly.

  • Aside from being incredibly handsome, my husband Paul is one of the most intelligent people I have ever known. I love him for his nerdiness, mostly because it means he can fix just about anything that goes wrong on the homefront. He's a brilliant engineer, loving father, and always manages to keep me interested, no matter the subject. For all of his awesomeness, I let him maintain a significant workshop in the garage, where he tinkers on his cars, motorcycles, and top secret projects with which I'm certain he will one day rule the world.

A First Look

This will be the first post of several over the next week or so with sneak peeks and information about what is happening at Luxecetera. Along with wrapping up our individual clients, making decisions about our new brand and designing new things we have also been working on our product offerings. MANY new template collections are in the works, including a line called Luxecetera Signature. Luxc Signature will include several collections (baby and holiday to start). Below is a quick sneak peek of Luxc Baby which will debuting in about a month. Luxc Baby is a set of 5 folded 5×7 birth announcement templates complete with 5 original signature illustrations, original pattern designs and 4 panels for a completely customizable look. This is just one of the MANY new things that will be debuting in the boutique.  Stay tuned for more!

Amazing Grace.

Meet The Amazing Miss Grace… a 2-year-old (well, almost 2) ball of energy. It’s been a while since I photographed a toddler. I had forgotten how much chasing after them you have to do. I guess you could say this was practice for when Opie starts walking. Ha!

It was these little feet that I was chasing after…

There’s a few tricks to keep them idol for little moments…

Thanks B&D for inviting me into your home and letting me play with Grace for the afternoon!

I’m sorry to say that I cannot take on new clients at this time… I am nearly to the point of being overwhelmed. I am still just one person at this point and find that I can’t do it all. I am looking forward to being three people very soon! HaHa!

We (Lisa, Eva and I) are trying to tie up all of our current clients and projects so we can start fresh with our new brand. We will be publishing new rates and packages soon and are scheduled to have our new site up in a month or so. Be on the lookout! We will be starting a waiting list for Luxecetera in the coming weeks.

Say Hello to Walter

Walter is my brother… you would have never guessed that, huh?! Well, he is. And he is really a cool dude! He’s has decided to join us (Lisa, Eva and I) in our design endeavors and has been working on all kinds of awesome designs and illustrations since he started a few weeks ago. You will not believe the talent he has in his pinky finger! Unbelievable! He’s a natural illustrator and has taken our work to a whole new level! He’s the cute one in the two images below. If you see him on the street – be sure to tell him hello and “YOU ROCK!” If you scroll down a little further – you can see some of the projects he’s been working on with me.

Some of these are final logos, some of them are lonely orphans and some of them have not even been presented to the client… so shhhh.

He is also responsible for the Luxecetera Illustrations. Oh yeah – and he’s working on some killer new templates for photographers that will debut when our new site goes live. Here’s a little peak from one of our new template lines.

A couple more things…. One: Pray he doesn’t tire of working on girly logos. Two: if you have any projects that lean toward the masculine side – shoot us an email – Walter would enjoy a break from all this feminine stuff. (;

Jodi - So good to put a face to the name of the bro-man you speak so highly of! Go Walt, GO! Good stuff there indeed. You are all quite lucky to be working with each other and wish you all nothing but the best on your new collaborative journey!
